Dombey and Son - Charles Dickens, Andrew Sanders I find Dombey and Son among my favorites. It’s a surprisingly mature novel, considering it’s one of his early works of fiction, even though it does have its problems in terms of the plot and characterization. But I do love the imagery Dickens evokes, such as the scene where a young Florence is found wandering the streets of London, looking very much like a trampled flower left lying in the sun, picked from its bush. Yet under the care of Walter and co., Florence seems to blossom more fully than she ever did before, when she was just a young blossom on a bush. *wink*
